Over two thousand Grade 1 learners across 18 primary schools in the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality have received new school bags as part of a broader school support programme. Now in its fourth year, this initiative has expanded its reach including new areas in Kimberley and Barkley West in addition to Riverton, Boshof, Delportshoop, Galeshewe, Greenpoint, Holpan, Platfontein, Ritchie, Roodepan and Windsorton.
Once again, Matla A Bokone Solar funded the Back-to-School Programme, as part of their overarching local education support. The initiative also stimulates the local economy by creating two jobs for local youth and partnering with a community-based service provider, achieving triple impact.
“We are grateful for this sponsorship as it addresses a significant need within our school community. Matla A Bokone Solar’s provision of new school bags for our learners, especially on a rainy day, symbolises the blessing they are to our community,” expressed Mpho Mkhontwana, Teacher at Letshego Primary School.
The beneficiary primary schools include Progress Primary, St Peters Primary, Sol Plaatje Primary, Floors North Primary, Tshiamo Primary, Molebahangwe Primary, Isago Primary, Barkley Wes Primere, Rietrivier Primary, Mosalakae Primary, Delportshoop Primary, Flamingo Primary, Montshiwa Primary, Letshego Primary, Tshwarelela Primary, Kgabang Primary, Beacon Primary, Pniellandgoed Primary.
In closing, Lesego Mosiane, Matla A Bokone’s Community Liaison Officer, said, “Our donation of school bags is more than just a tool for academic achievement; it’s a gesture that fosters self-esteem and belonging among students.”
